Jonathan Newman composes music rich with rhythmic drive and intricate sophistication, creating broadly colored musical works that incorporate styles of pop, blues, jazz, folk, and funk into otherwise classical models. Recent works include MERIDIAN for orchestra, and BLOW IT UP, START AGAIN, which has been performed by orchestras worldwide. He is currently composing a MASS, commissioned by The Choir of Trinity Wall Street, and serves as Dir. of Composition at Shenandoah Conservatory in Virginia.
